Item 8.01 Other Events.

 

On January 1, 2025, Unity Biotechnology, Inc. (“Unity” or the “Company”) appointed Federico Grossi, M.D., Ph.D., as the Company’s Chief Medical Officer, effective immediately. Formerly the chief medical officer of Apellis Pharmaceuticals, a global biopharmaceutical company focused on developing therapies in serious retinal and rare diseases, Dr. Grossi over his 13-year tenure led and oversaw the development from the early stage through to approval of, SYFOVRE (pegcetacoplan injection for geographic atrophy). A copy of the press release announcing Dr. Grossi’s appointment and detailing his extensive experience is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.
